Great Lengths

I chopped my hair off last summer. Took about 7 or so inches off...maybe even 8.

It has taken me over a year to grow my hair out...and that's only 4 of those 8 inches. Yikes!

I loved my haircut. It was cute, sassy and spunky.

This way my hair inspiration.

Sassy, right?

Reese's hair is curled here, so picture this style straight, but a bit shorter.

Kind of like Julianne Hough's recent haircut.

Well I am not a professional hair stylist. After awhile I got sick of my hair, except when I was able to curl it, and lets face it, there are only so many hours in a day and I really could not find time every single day to curl my hair.

I know I know, I could go two days without washing my hair. But I have very blonde, very fine hair and it started looking greasy real quick.

Not a good look for anyone. I didn't want to look like I had just taken a dip in a pool. Ick.

So my goal has been longer, thicker, healthier hair. I've been doing some research on tips for growing out your hair and here is what I've come across.

-->Tips for Growing Hair

  1. Don't Cut It! We keep getting told to get trims to grow our hair. It seems backwards...because it is! The only reason you would need to get a trim is if you have split ends. Split ends are the cause of our trouble when we are trying to grow out our hair. If we have dry, unhealthy hair, we are going to have split ends. This leads to breakage because the hair splits up the shaft. Point being? Take care of your hair and you won't have to worry about split ends!
  2. Hair Masks. I would suggest once a week. For myself, doing too many deep conditioning treatments is going to make my hair heavy because it is so fine. I have a lot of hair which people confuse for thick hair...it's fine  just a lot of it. Hair masks give your hair moisture and healthy, moisturized hair won't result in split ends. I came across THIS treatment awhile back and have been wanting to try it. Coconut oil keeps your hair healthy and strong in the most natural way possible. Always go organic!
  3. Try to cut down washes. Self-explanatory. All those chemicals will kill your hair! And not shampooing as often will save you a lot of time.
  4. Protect from Heat. Blow-drying, curling, straightening...all of these things use heat and heat can really damage your hair. Duh! I personally use Bumble and Bumble Products...I especially love their color line, because it protects from heat AND protects my color...highlights are expensive people! (B&B's Colorminded UV Protective Styling Balm)
  5. Be Gentle. Don't go all crazy-brush-girl on us and cause more damage to your strands by being rough. Gently comb and brush your hair. Although I don't have the most expensive styling tools, I know many people recommend splurging on nice brushes...it's not for everyone but it could help! Personally I'm on a budget so I pick and choose where to spend my money. No matter what tools you use don't attack tangles! Say it with me...BREAKAGE.
  6. Eat Healthy. Enough said. Just as much as your diet will effect your skin and body, it effects your hair too!
On average hair grows about half an inch each month...so be patient and take care of your tresses. If your like me, patience can be hard to come by, but it will be worth it when you can finally put your hair up and not miss a single piece. No one likes a rat-tail.

Twenties Girl Style...check her out!

I'm in my twenties, so when I came across Twenties Girl Style Blog I was so excited!

One thing that can be frustrating for me when I'm looking for fashion inspiration is looking on certain blogs and loving the clothing, but being unable to even begin to think about purchasing items because they are WAY out of my price range. I don't have millions let me tell ya...I can barely pay for my car this month. (Thank God I finally got a new job!!)

So that's why I love Twenties Girl Style. She posts the cutest outfits, and just about everything is very reasonably priced!

She sells things she no longer wants in her closet on Store Envy and it worked out perfectly for me. I loved one of the combo's so much that I went and bought it! I'm a bit crazy, but it was just so cute that I couldn't stop myself.

Check her out!

I love the crochet top combo with the floral skirt. Very simple, but very flirty and sweet.

Check her blog out!

I want. I want. I want.

I don't know what it is, but I am the laziest of lazy girls.

I have so many things I want to do. So much I want to accomplish.

I want better skin
           toned legs
to be good at the guitar
           to chase after my dreams
to obsess over fashion, but not let shopping rule my life
           better eating habits
           longer and thicker hair
to be financially stable without my Dad's help
to be a better woman of God than I have been lately
           to love better

I want. I want. I want.

I probably sound whiney. And I'm not meaning to. I'm just trying to be real.

No lies here. Just flat out honesty.

Like I listed above, there are so many things I want in life. Life is such a beautiful gift, and God didn't put us here to waste it. But on so many levels I continue to worship these ridiculous things; as someone once put it, I'm "worshiping creation not the creator". Straight wisdom right there, people!

I think women on some level are always wanting more. And I'm not by any means trying to put down our gender. I'm all for women. We are equal to men. Equal, but different. But it sucks that we are in this trap of never being satisfied. Thanks a lot Satan.

With that being said, a lot of the things I want are in my control. And I hate that I get so motivated one minute and then become unbelievably unmotivated and lazy the next.

So I'm putting my foot down.

And I know it won't be easy.

This blog will be my place of ranting, venting, and basically word-vomiting just so I can put life into perspective. Maybe it will piss you off. Maybe it will make you laugh. Maybe you'll read it once and vow never to read so much crap again. Or maybe it will inspire you. (Fingers crossed) But in the end I hope that it will provide you with perspective as much as I'm praying it will do so for yours truly.

Because lets face it, lazy is not a pretty color on anyone.
